Oooh mr todd, I could eat you up, I really could!

This is the little christmas comic I did for my friends- I was playing around with bitmap tiffs & I think it turned out kind of fun; its prints much nicer than it looks here. I saw sweeney todd yesterday & doodled the mrs lovetts- Helena Bonham Carter was a much lower key mrs lovett & I sort of missed Angela Lansbury's blithe mania.

Merry Christmas!

The way my mom wrapped my gifts is sooo, soooo adorable I just have to share it- she even drew the fang in & everthing! how cute is that? Merry Christmas everyone!

Get along little doggies!

A little illustrator doodle- I'm kicking around the idea of story about a pair of mismatched cowboy dogs.

WHAT HO, BLOG!

My mom bought me a new hat- I kind of look like a PJ Wodehouse character in it :D I've seen some commercials for that tinman series on sci-fi, and thought the character design for the scarecrow was kind of fun so I did a few doodles. Lastly, I was going through old artwork the other day, and found a drawing after rubens from when I was ten or so & felt the need to share it.

Wutta beeyoooteeeful pitcha!

Posing & sillohuette are still hard for me, but I'm trying to keep them more in mind while I doodle.

Last saturday I went with Lizzie & Vickie (who are much cuter than I drew them here, sorry guys) up to the Norman Rockwell Museum. It was alot of fun & the museum itself was neat- lots of paintings, a special exhibit about graphic novels, and the least museum-y looking museum go-ers I've ever seen (more than a few mullets and stretch pants), plus the ticket agent was an old guy in a pink buttondown and blue bowtie. My only quibble was with the informational video, which called Rockwell 'both an artist AND an illustrator' as if the two were mutually exclusive.
Looking back, its kind of funny to see how much I've stolen from rockwell- pictures within pictures, red headed kids = instant comedy, etc- he even did sequential image type things like this.

DUNNA DUNNNA DUNNNA BATMAN!

A sneak drawing of my friend lene while she was doodling, and a little comic that came from a convo about what terrible comic book arch enemies we'd be; I'm pretty sure that, as a super villian, at least 90 percent of my evil schemes would involve cookies in some capacity. Also, go check out Jon Morris' lil' Batman strips- they are so cute you'll die. http://calamityjon.livejournal.com/tag/little+batman

Whats with these homies dissing the Frans, why do they got to front?

Went sketching at the Met the other day & saw the Age of Rembrandt show. Dutch portraiture is wonderful; even if the sitter has a face like a potato, the handling of paint and the inner character that shines through is amazing. Poor Frans Hals got no respect- all the old ladies in the gallery made a little moue when they saw his name instead of Rembrandt's on the wall label.
The last lady I just like cause she looked so un-amused; I suspect the enormous floofy bonnet has something to do with it.

The good, the bad, the banana fingers

Drawings from the wednesday night session.
