A funny thing happened on the way to the...

Me & my fave grecophile lene attempted to see Euripides Bacchea at the Delacorte theater, cause every so often we like to pretend we're grown ups and enjoy things that don't involve boy wizards. Sadly, we couldn't get tickets, but have a drawing anyway!

IDK, MY BFF LENE?

Lene makes me awesome things, and I obvs need to share them with the world- here's little me (note the fang!) hanging out with my literary bff Oscar Wilde. I've got polka dots and everything!

We've gotten sucked into this bbc series that's based very, very, very loosely on arthurian legend (there was an entire episode about unicorns, if this gives you any indication of what kind of show this is). I made her a pop up card for her bday of merlin riding a unicorn, and then she crafted an actual merlin & unicorn based on my card. Cause we're cool like that :D

These are all characters from Dr Who & Torchwood- the one on the top left is a hand puppet.

And this is Old Gregg, a funky mer-man from The Mighty Boosh (more obscure tv, I know). I love his hair! Lene has an etsy where she sells some of her dolls- go check it out more of her awesomeness there Lene's etsy Shop

The Hero of Canton, The Man They Call Jayne

Over the last few months me and my friend Teresa have been watching Firefly (a western set in space, by Joss Whedon of Buffy fame) on dvd. One of the characters, Jayne cobb, a crudely spoken mercenary, gun enthusiast and secret mama's boy, gets a hat his mother knit him. A deeply ridiculous hat. You can see it above. Clearly, I had to make it.

So I made one in the original jayne colours for Teresa,

and one in 'so my head won't look like a creamsicle' blues for Lene. I'm pleased with them :D new comics and drawings soon!

Comics!

At around two o clock in the morning, they start playing 'Girls Gone Wild' commercials, and me and lene have some variation of this conversation pretty much every time I'm over her house. Click to make it bigger, as always.

The Creative Process.

If you've somehow managed to miss it (lucky you), Twilight is a series of books (and now a movie) about a morose mood swinging vampire named Edward Cullen, who despite being 118 years old, still goes to high school. You're 118! GET A JOB! These are a few career suggestions.

We now return to your regularly scheduled nonsense

I was looking at some of Ludwig Besselman's work last night and realized I'd probably been a bit more influenced by Madeline than I had thought.

About 90% of the conversations I have with my friends sound like this to people who aren't us.

Look, its a drawing thats not actually about me! I like the conventions of early american child portraits.

Top is a little birthday doodle for Lene (her and little cartoon version of her fave tv characters), next is a drawing of the ever awesome ricardo, and the rest are sketches from the drawing session & lene's class I sat in on.

DUNNA DUNNNA DUNNNA BATMAN!

A sneak drawing of my friend lene while she was doodling, and a little comic that came from a convo about what terrible comic book arch enemies we'd be; I'm pretty sure that, as a super villian, at least 90 percent of my evil schemes would involve cookies in some capacity. Also, go check out Jon Morris' lil' Batman strips- they are so cute you'll die. http://calamityjon.livejournal.com/tag/little+batman
